I can’t sleep with the lights off sometimes because I am Schizoaffective Bipolar type I and I am afraid to see a hallucination again and sleeping with the lights on reduces that fear.
But I heard my aunt say that people who sleep every day with lights turned on don’t get good sound sleep? Is that true?
bluechimera says:
Well, I think I heard somewhere that it does affect the quality of your sleep. Plus, your body won’t produce enough melanin (or something), so you’re most susceptible to certain types of cancer, I think.
But I sleep with the lights on a lot, anyway, because the bright light helps me wake up in the morning for school/work. So, just do whatever works for you. Everything in life comes with some risks.
