My cat has always slept wherever he wants.. on the bed, in the closet, under the desk. I recently bought a cat pyramid/tent bed for him to sleep in but he doesn’t want to sleep in it or go near it, he just goes back to his old sleeping places. i placed the bed under the computer desk where he sometimes likes to sleep. can i get him to sleep in there? how?
I already tried the catnip thing. He just sticks his head inside and licks like crazy for a few minutes then leaves.

Cats don’t always sleep in the same spot, but in order to get it in its bed more often, make sure when you give him treats, do it in the bed. Try sprinkling a bit of catnip in there. If he associates the bed with good things, he is more likely to spend time in it.

Try to make it a little bit more hospitable. Put an old comfy blanket it in there for him. Get out a treat and show it to him, then put it in the bed. If he goes in there, pet him and rub his cheeks, so that he will make positive associations with being there.

Ultimately, you probably won’t get him to sleep there exclusively. Cats like to have more than one place to sleep. It’s just the way they are.

Set him on the bed and if he stays there for a minute put a treat on the bed, eventually when you get out the treats he’ll go right to the bed, hopefully he’ll go to sleep there, once he realizes how compfy it is and he gets his sent on it.

If he doesn’t like it, which it seems like he doesn’t — then he will never use it.
If you still have the receipt return it, or sell it.

I have cats and it happens all the time.

well you could put his fav food in there and then put a cage around him so that he gets the feeling that the bed is not that bad. he will come around.

If he’s got a particular blanket or something that he prefers to lie on, put that in the bed. Cats have very individual characteristics. You can’t make them do anything. All you can do is persuade it that it wants to do what you want.

Sorry, but you have yourself a genuine cat. That means he or she will pretty much do what he or she wants to do.

Cats choose their own places for reasons we often do not appreciate because we are not cats ourselves.

Why does it bother you so much anyway? Sure, you should try to avoid your cat sleeping on clean laundry or certain furniture or on electrical appliances, but if its safe and does not cause damage in any way, let the cat be happy.
